" Power " and energy work

Often people will compare energy work systems and practitioners, making claims about the power and quality of one particular system or practitioner.

Power is very subjective. Actual effectiveness is not necessarily measured by the impression of effect the treatment has. What people often mean when they say that this or that practitioner is powerful is that they felt the energy in a strong, loud, noticeable way - it made an obvious impression on them. Remember that although a jack hammer is a  powerful tool, it is not appropriate for brain surgery.

Sometimes  results that might not be initially noticeable or impressive may in the long run be the true gauge of effectiveness . It is not whether it felt like the practitioner really shook things up but whether the recipient over the long run is more well, happier, more self actualizing, more able to do for themselves, because of the treatment .

Some people judge the effectiveness and wisdom of others by the impact of the personality and will ignore their own intuition in the face of charisma.

Some people who are healing  practitioners become quite impressed with themselves because they have impressed others as being powerful. Even when people are chasing you through the streets to offer you fruit and touch your robes, it will be your integrity and effectiveness at assisting others to awaken their own abilities that will have value. No amount of personal power or virtue either apparent or real will ever outweigh that of the good you enable others to perform.
